HDPE Plastic Recycling

HDPE Recycling

HDPE is an abbreviation for high-density polyethylene. It is often used for the production of plastic bottles, corrosion resistant pipes, geo-membranes and artificial timber, decking and cladding. It has a very high strength to density ratio and can range in density from 930 to 970 kg/m cubed.

Chemical Resistance:

  • HDPE has excellent resistance to both diluted and concentrated acids and alcohols.
  • HDPE has good resistance to vegetable oils, ketones and aldehydes.
  • HDPE has moderate resistance to mineral oils, oxidizing agents, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.
  • HDPE has low resistance to halogenated hydrocarbons.
  • Unlike LDPE and MDPE, HDPE can has moderate resistance to camphor oil.

HDPE Applications:

  • Plastic ropes and netting
  • Disposable protective suits
  • Plastic mailing envelopes
  • Flexible pipes
  • Corrugated pipes
  • Plastic chairs and stools
  • Bottle crates
  • Toys and playground equipment
